After months of speculation a broadcast date for Pat Kenny's new chat show on UTV Ireland has finally been revealed.

Pat Kenny in the Round will kick off on Monday, May 11 at 9pm on Ireland's newest channel.

Five episodes of the series will run throughout May and June, with an additional eight episodes being shown from autumn.

Pat (67) previously said that the show would not be taking a political turn until after the summer.

It is set to feature a mixture of Irish and international personalities.

Guests already confirmed to appear over the coming weeks include astronaut Chris Hadfield and pop star Lulu.

The in-depth interview show is pre-recorded in front of a studio audience of 150 people in the Round Room of Dublin's Mansion House.

Speaking ahead of the first broadcast, the Newstalk presenter said the show "is unlike anything else I have presented in the past".

"This is an exciting new chapter in my extended career and I have thoroughly enjoyed preparing for my return to television screens with UTV Ireland," he said.

"We are all very pleased with the first recordings and the format of the series is unlike anything else I have presented in the past.

"I have been fortunate to interview many fascinating people since I began broadcasting, but this series has given me the opportunity to get a truly in-depth feeling for each of our guests.

"I hope that audiences of all ages are as captivated by their stories as I have been," he added.

Mary Curtis, Head of Channel at UTV Ireland, said "the name of the guest for our first broadcast will be revealed shortly".
