Cowell seeks out Laura's talent to boost flagging Xtra Factor

TELEVISION presenter Laura Whitmore has kept quiet about reports that she's next in line to replace Caroline Flack as the new host of Xtra Factor.

The MTV star is believed to be in talks with ITV bosses as the new face of The X Factor companion show amid a number of changes to the programme's format.

With Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole returning to the judging panel this year, new dad Cowell is reportedly keen to shake up the show and boost its flagging ratings.

And Whitmore (28) is said to be a key component in the new format, with former contestant Rylan also in the mix to join her as co-host.

She has already replaced Flack as host of I'm A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out of Here Now! on ITV and has a solid relationship with network bosses.

But she has yet to respond to the reports, focusing instead on her break in LA.

Whitmore was spotted soaking up the atmosphere at the Coachella music and arts festival earlier this week and has been keeping fans updated on her Instagram account with photos of her trip.

The single TV star, who has been linked to pin-up Scottish singer Paolo Nutini, recently revealed that being linked to good pal Niall Horan has 'ruined' her love life.

"To be honest, those rumours have been going on for two years now and I'm so sick of them," she said.

"It makes it harder if you are actually going out with someone else.

"I just got bored of it after a while. I was like, 'Whatever. People can believe what they want to believe'.

"No matter how many times I say it, they say the opposite. I just ignore it."

Whitmore has been spotted hanging out with Nutini over the past few months, including at the Brit Awards in London.

She was also at his gig in Dublin's Olympia Theatre last month and was later spotted at Cassidy's pub in the capital.
