FORMER Friends star Courtney Cox and her Irish fiance Johnny McDaid won't be spending Christmas this year in Ireland.

The pair, who announced their engagement during the summer, will instead spend the festive season at Cox's Malibu home with her 10-year-old daughter Coco.

The couple opted for the sunny US west coast instead of Snow Patrol singer McDaid's native Derry.

The fifth series of Cox's hit TV show Cougar Town had just finished up, so the couple celebrated by visiting the Silver Oak winery.

It's believed they will spend part of the festive season with Cox's ex-husband David Arquette and his fiancee Christina McLarty.

In a recent article with the Vancouver Sun, Arquette described his ex as a "wonderful mother" to their daughter, and added that "we are friends and we love each other".

Cox and McDaid, who are getting married next year, were recently reported to have been at odds over the location of their wedding.

The former Friends actress's first preference is California, while McDaid has hinted at Ashford Castle in Co Mayo.

There are rumours that the pair have already married in secret as they are sporting wedding rings, and that next year's wedding will be ceremonial.

Although they had only been dating since last year, McDaid got down on one knee and proposed at Cox's birthday celebrations.
