Conor lets himself go for special night -- but only a bit

OPERATION Transformation star Conor O'Connor has revealed that he gave himself a night off from his strict diet regime for Valentine's Day.

The determined Dub (32) revealed that he treated himself to a meal at Michelin star restaurant Bon Appetit in Malahide, but still refrained from overindulging, thanks to the lessons the show has taught him.

"I had scallops, a fillet of beef and two drinks -- a glass of champagne and a glass of wine -- and I had to leave it at that."

Conor said that the show has transformed his attitude to food, and being able to eat out in a restaurant added some "normality" to his newly regimented lifestyle.

And his newfound confidence certainly paid off as his wife told him she had one of their best Valentine's dates.

"Sandra said she had one of the best Valentine's days ever and I gave her roses and a voucher," he said.

The father of two has already lost three stone during his stint on the programme, in spite of joining just over a month ago on January 14.

"It's a hell of an achievement, everybody is saying it to me," he said.

"I have dropped four inches in my waist and a full shirt size and I'm feeling great."

He explained that this week's army task has been one of their most difficult to date, which saw contestants on the RTE show crawling through sewers.

"We had to bang doors down, jump through windows and crawl through sewers. It wasn't easy but we did it."

In spite of the hardship, he vows to "keep going" even after the cameras finish rolling.

The former All Ireland handball champion has vowed to be back in winning shape by December so he can once again take part in the sport.
