Colin Farrell’s emotional interview about same-sex marriage on Claire Byrne Live has gone viral and may even appear on Ellen DeGeneres’ chat show in America.

The interview was spotted by DeGeneres’ researchers on Tuesday and they were in touch with RTE immediately about obtaining the footage.

“The team got a call late on Tuesday night direct from Ellen’s production company in LA,” said an RTE spokesperson.

“They’d seen the video of the interview with Colin Farrell online and really wanted to put it up Ellentube.com.

In the interview on Monday night, Farrell spoke about his brother Eamon, who is gay and happily married. The Hollywood actor also said he fully supports the same-sex marriage campaign in Ireland.

“To see them every day of their lives as a happily married couple is an amazing thing, and to think that they had to leave their own country to do that is sad and disappointing and just grossly unfair, I feel,” Farrell said in the interview.

“This is my coming out of the closet, as it were, and saying that I support this vote with every fibre of my being.”
