Broody Michelle becomes the latest Xpose star to join baby boom at TV3

THE baby boom just keeps on going at TV3, with Michelle Doherty becoming the latest to confirm she's pregnant.

The DJ and television presenter said she was "absolutely thrilled" to be expecting her first child with boyfriend Mark O'Shea.

Michelle, whose news will not affect her TV3 contract, said she had been feeling broody for some time.

The surprise announcement came only months after she was confirmed as the replacement for Xpose host Aisling O'Loughlin, who is on maternity leave.

Michelle is due to give birth at the end of August and is expected to leave Xpose in April, when Aisling is scheduled to return.

"Both Mark and I are very excited about becoming parents," said Michelle. "I'm very maternal and have been feeling broody for a while now, so I'm over the moon with my news."

The 35-year-old described her time on TV3 since joining the Xpose team in November as "an absolute whirlwind".

"I want to especially thank everyone for welcoming me to Xpose and sending me all their warm wishes on the back of my baby news," she added.

She will see out the remainder of her contract with the station.

DELIGHTED

A TV3 insider said: "She has been trying to have a baby for a while, so the whole station is just delighted for her. She's still quite early in her pregnancy, so she will be here for another few months.

"It looks like herself and Aisling could just directly swap roles when Aisling comes back in May."

Michelle, from Donegal, spoke about her news on the show last night, and her excited co-hosts Lisa Cannon, Glenda Gilson – both of whom announced their engagements recently – and Karen Koster said they were delighted for her.

Michelle and Mark have been dating for more than a year, and moved into a plush London pad after three months together. She has been splitting her time between Dublin and the UK since getting the TV3 job.

While Michelle is not sure if she will marry her Kerry beau, she told how he was definitely a keeper.

He's definitely 'The One'," she told the Herald.
