Bleakley crowned top presenter

Christine Bleakley has been crowned top TV host at a Women Of The Year awards event - despite Daybreak's flagging ratings.

The 31-year-old presenter's win came in spite of figures released last week, which showed that just 530,000 viewers are tuning in to watch Christine on ITV's troubled breakfast show - a third of the audience for its BBC rival, Breakfast.

Among the other winners at the star-studded Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women Of The Year event at the Banqueting House in London was Doctor Who beauty Karen Gillan, who took home the Ultimate UK TV Actress award.

Girls Aloud's Nicola Roberts - who launched her own make-up range for pale skin this year - was named Ultimate Fashionista.

Nicola's bandmate Kimberley Walsh also attended the event, as she was on a panel of celebrity judges who selected the winners of the awards recognising the bravery and achievements of the nation's non-celebrity women. Kimberley was joined on the panel by Karren Brady, Reggie Yates and Mel B.

Dizzee Rascal was presented with the Ultimate Man Of The Year award, while former Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps star Sheridan Smith picked up the Ultimate Theatre Star award for her role in the West End hit Legally Blonde: The Musical.

Alexandra Burke picked up the award for Ultimate UK Music Star and Fearne Cotton, who last year climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for Comic Relief and recently took part in a celebrity trek around Peru for Breast Cancer Care, was named Ultimate Celebrity Who Made Us Care.

Katy Perry won Ultimate International Music Star, while the Ultimate Film Actress gong went to Gemma Arterton.
