Tim lands villain role on True Detective

Colin Farrell won't be the only Irishman in the new season of True Detective - Timothy V Murphy has landed the role of a villain.

The former Glenroe actor, who has appeared in many American TV series, will play Russian gangster Osip Agranov in season two of the HBO hit drama.

Murphy's screen credits include Sons of Anarchy, Criminal Minds, Disney's The Lone Ranger opposite Johnny Depp, NCIS: Los Angeles, 24, Appaloosa and National Treasure: Book of Secrets.

Murphy (54) has recently finished filming on the new Netflix comedy series Grace and Frankie starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin and is also known for his appearances on stage.

Now based in Los Angeles, the Kerry native worked as a bouncer in Dublin and as a builder in New York before turning to acting.

Farrell (38) has said he is delighted filming is taking place in Los Angeles so he can be closer to his family.
