He is known as the nice guy of cooking so it's no wonder that everyone is wishing celebrity chef Neven Maguire well in his latest venture – to open his first cookery school.

Maguire has enlisted help from some useful sources to ensure that the school is a success. Maguire, who will open the school beside his restaurant MacNean House in Blacklion, Co Cavan, later this month, has teamed up with appliance giant Miele. They are helping him to deck out his new studio with the latest cutting edge technology. Sounds fancy.

Everyone loves a bit of romantic humour at Christmas so it didn't come as a huge surprise when the re-telling of Jane Austen classic Pride and Prejudice proved to be a sell-out hit at Dublin's Gate Theatre. Bosses are so happy with the number of people flocking to see Mr Darcy and Co in action that they are continuing to extend its run. Starring ex-Fair City beauty Aoibhin Garrihy, Pride and Prejudice will run at the Gate Theatre until February 8 and tickets start from €25.

BBC's Chris Evans dubbed it his "new favourite show in the world" after presenter Anna Nolan appeared on his BBC Radio 2 breakfast show. Jools Holland is coming back to Dublin to play the Bord Gais Energy Theatre on Friday, October 17 and will bring his rhythm and blues orchestra with him. Famed for his multi-million-selling Jools and Friends series, Holland (lpictured) and his orchestra play to very large audiences on a regular basis. Tickets for his latest Irish show go on sale tomorrow from 9.30pm and tickets cost €49.50.

One of Dublin's most popular nightclubs is getting a makeover. The curtain will be raised on the new-look Lillie's Bordello next Thursday and bosses are promising one hell of a party to celebrate. Invited guests will get a first-hand look at the new-style club and we're sure there will be a few celebrities thrown in for good measure.
