EXPECTANT mum Jodi Albert - the wife of Kian Egan - has revealed she is better equipped to cope with post-natal depression should it occur again.
Jodi has revealed that after opening up about her own battle with post-natal depression, women have been approaching her on the street with similar stories.
The former Hollyoaks actress admitted she had to battle the illness after the birth of her firstborn, Koa, three years ago.
Now pregnant with her second child, Jodi admits she is worried that she will run into similar trouble, but knows she will be better equipped to cope.
"I'd know what to look for whereas the first time I had no idea," she said.
She said she was heartened by people approaching and talking of their own experiences about the depression.
"I literally had women coming up to me on the street and telling me their stories before they'd even told me their name.
"The fact that they felt they could talk to me like that, I kind of knew they wanted to talk to somebody about it," she said.
The mum-of-one has constantly praised her husband for helping her beat the blues when their son was a few months old.
"Koa was seven months old before I realised what was wrong with me. It was hard but I have a good husband so I got through it," she said.
The Sligo based actress has turned her hand to writing to record her experiences as a struggling new mum. It started as notes to help herself cope but now the 31-year-old has turned them into a fully-fledged manuscript.
Her book takes a light-hearted, funny approach to the subject which she hopes will be uplifting for women in a similar situation.
"I've actually had a lot of women approach me about it and that's what made me do it," she said.
"It's quite comedy driven, but it's very honest and I think people won't really be expecting that," she continued.
"I definitely think it's a fluffier approach to post-natal depression as opposed to something very heavy and hard-hitting."
Albert wed reigning King of the Celebrity jungle Kian Egan in 2009.
