So what's that suspicious white powder, Rihanna?

SINGER Rihanna has embroiled herself in fresh controversy after being pictured emptying an unknown white substance on to her bouncer's head while at a festival. The 24-year-old Grammy-award winner posted pictures of herself on the shoulders of a bodyguard while taking in the sights at the renowned Coachella festival in California over the weekend.

The snap, uploaded by the singer onto photo sharing website Instagram, shows the star looking into the camera while pouring a suspicious white substance onto her companion's shaved head while being carried around.

Rihanna is holding a wrapper in her left hand and captioned the shot: "Memories don't live like people."

Last night, the Bajan star, who stars alongside Irish actor Liam Neeson in action flick Battleship, was clearly trying to put the controversy behind her.

Joining a host of celebrities, she turned out to the 15th annual An Unforgettable Evening benefiting EIF's Women's Cancer Research Fund in Beverly Hills.

A more demure Rihanna posed for photographers alongside American legend Sheryl Crow at the bash, which was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

It was announced that she has been named among TIME magazine's top 100 most influential people in the world.

Meanwhile, Rihanna's followers have been speculating whether the unidentified powder was in fact cocaine.

Within minutes of the picture going online, social networking sites exploded.

Thousands of fans wondering if the talented beauty was caught actually taking drugs.

One user on Twitter questioned: "Is that weed or coke?" But many commended the artist for being so open.

One person commented: "Priceless I love this girl," while another wrote: "Rihanna is the type of chick to strap your drugs to both her thighs and carry them across state lines for you."
