RTE's Nuala is hoping to find an Italian hunk

SHE'S been predicting the rain showers and sunny spells for the nation all summer and now weather girl Nuala Carey (inset) is looking forward to a holiday.

The singleton is gearing up to jet off to one of the romantic cities in the world, Venice, in the coming weeks.

And she revealed she may be on the hunt for an Italian man.

Flying over with her sister for a two-stop trip to Venice and then Verona, the 35-year-old told the Diary she's excited to kick back and relax after what's been a full on few months.

"I'm doing the Lotto as well as the forecasts for RTE, so I've actually had kind of a busy summer and I am really looking forward to getting away for a bit," she said.

"I was in Italy a few years ago for a friend's wedding and always wanted to go back.

"We're going on an organised thing, so our itineraries will just be handed to us which is fantastic, no thinking or planning at all.

"And maybe I'll discover someone over there. You never know what can happen on a holiday or who you might meet," she added.

Following her European adventure, it'll be straight back into the thick of the action for Nuala, who's returning to the annual Ploughing Championship in Portlaoise.

"We've been going down for about 10 years now and I've gone every year with them," she said.

But although it's one of the biggest events to take place in Ireland, there's little Nuala has actually seen at the annual wellie-wearing bonanza.

"We broadcast from down there but we're often stuck in our area so I've never really been able to go down and go out and about to enjoy all the action," she said.

"I'm usually in the RTE marquee all day and I don't even get to see anything."
