Niall has secret crush on Corrie star Brooke

HIS love life is often in and out of the limelight, and now One Direction's Niall Horan has been romantically linked to a soap star.

The Mullingar native, who over the weekend got to play tennis with Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic, openly said he has a crush on Coronation Street's Brooke Vincent, and the rumour mill has gone into overdrive about an alleged romance.

However, 22-year-old Brooke - known for her role as Sophie Webster in the long-running soap - has insisted the pair are just friends.

The brunette split from her Chelsea footballer boyfriend Josh McEachran earlier this year, after dating for almost three years.

"Niall has been my friend since he started on The X Factor, but because I'm single and he said he fancies me it's assumed we'll get together," she said.

"I've been to One Direction concerts loads of times - with Josh, my cousins, my sister - because he's a mate. But nothing has happened between us. Now I'm single again there's lots of speculation about who I'm dating and what's going on."

COMFORTABLE

She also said that she is enjoying being single adding: "I'm quite comfortable being single and being myself and doing what I do," she said.

"I don't really need someone else there to make me feel better. To be honest, I don't get how I've had a boyfriend at all because I hate that 'getting to know you' stage. I don't play games and I don't do dating.

"Some girls have a plan - they will find a guy they like and text them, but I never do that kind of thing. That's really not me," she added.

Since soaring to super stardom after making it to the final of the X Factor in 2010, the boys of One Direction - Niall and his bandmates Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson, have become hot property all over the world.

Twenty-year-old Niall has reportedly dated a string of high profile beauties in recent years.

He's been previously linked to model Barbara Palvin and singers Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez.
