TEEN SPIRIT: The Strypes are to play Dublin in April

TEENAGE rock sensations The Strypes may have dedicated fans all over the world, but the band have pledged to a play a series of gigs at home this year.

The young Cavan group have announced that they will return to Irish soil for two Dublin dates in April.

The four-piece will take to the stage in the Academy on April 11 and 12, with a family-friendly show for their younger fans on the second date.

They sold out the venue in September last year, after their critically acclaimed appearance at Electric Picnic.

Joe Clarke, the group's Irish agent, said that 2014 is set to be a big year for the boys as they will release a new album and tour both Europe and the US.

"In terms of even January, they have the Eurosonic festival, and then they go to the States, do a UK tour, go back to America and do the South by South West festival," he said.

"It's shaping up to be a massive year."

Tickets for their Dublin gigs go on sale from Ticketmaster on Friday at 9am.
