Strypes to perform at famous oscars bash

Rockers The Strypes are invading the USA with a major gig at the famous Oscar Wildes bash before the Academy Awards.

The band has been invited to the annual pre-Oscars bash that Steven Spielberg called one of the best in LA.

The event on February 27 is organised by the US-Ireland Alliance and has a reputation for introducing new Irish talent.

This year it is being held at JJ Abrams' Bad Robot production company in Santa Monica.

The Cavan lads have spent the past 18 months hammering out a blues repertoire in clubs and at festivals across Europe.

Their rise follows last the release of their hit debut single Blue Collar Jane.
