Ronan's cover is top of the flops

Ronan Keating's version of Fairytale Of New York has been voted one of the worst covers of all time.

The Boyzone singer's take on the classic Pogues hit was narrowly beaten by Britney Spears' I Love Rock 'N' Roll in the poll of music fans.

Keating drew fans' ire by changing the song's line "you cheap lousy faggot" to "you're cheap and you're haggard".

Rock trio Muse were credited with the greatest cover of all time, with their rendition of Feeling Good.

The band's track -- originally made famous by Nina Simone -- topped the poll ahead of performances by the Clash, Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Buckley.

The survey for car maker Seat to promote new Channel 4 music show On Track With, placed Twist And Shout by The Beatles in second place and Johnny Cash's cover of Nine Inch Nails song Hurt at three.
