FANS of The Wanted will be devastated to hear that the boyband have decided to go their separate ways for the foreseeable future.

Irish singer Siva Kaneswaran and his bandmates Max George, Jay McGuiness, Tom Parker and Nathan Sykes announced yesterday that they intend to hang up their microphones after their Word of Mouth tour, to embark on solo projects.

In a statement released through their record company, the Chasing The Sun singers said that the move does not signal the end of the band, just a temporary break.

"The band wants to stress to their fans that they will continue on as The Wanted and look forward to many successful projects together in the future," read the statement.

It added: "They thank their fans for their continued love and support and look forward to seeing them on tour."

The Wanted, who had already cancelled their upcoming European dates, are due to perform at The O2 Dublin on March 24 and will perform their last concert in the UK in April.

While it is not yet clear how the decision will affect his career in the future, the band's split will no doubt give 25-year-old Dubliner Siva the chance to focus on his upcoming wedding.

He proposed to long-term partner Nareesha McCaffrey before Christmas, popping the question with a three-carat diamond solitaire ring which he had specially made.

The Blanchardstown native always planned to settle back in his home country and perhaps he will consider moving home sooner now the boys are taking a break.
