ONE Direction heart-throb Liam Payne has apologised after a photograph emerged of him standing on the ledge of a high-rise building.

The boyband star described what he did as "extremely dangerous", adding that it was "stupid".

In the photograph, Payne (20) is standing on a ledge of a tower block, thought to be in London.

On Twitter, the star said: "You may have seen a photo of me today taken on top of a building. I regret being there and having a photo taken.

"It was a stupid and irresponsible thing to do. I am sorry, and do not endorse any fans trying to repeat this as it is extremely dangerous."

In a series of tweets three hours before his apology, Payne asked people to stop "waiting outside" his house.

"I know my friends have tweeted a lot of pictures of my house in the past few days but can people please stop coming and waiting outside," he said.

"I'd just like to be able to walk outside as everyone does and enjoy time with my friends, not feel bad for not wanting to take a picture."

Rude

The singer added: "Sorry if I've been rude to anyone but I've come to realise if I take one picture more people keep coming everyday xxx hope everyone's good."

Meanwhile, 1D and The Wanted have been nominated in NME's Worst Band of the Year category.

Mullingar star Niall Horan and the rest of 1D won the gong last year, with Harry Styles taking home the 2013 Villain of the Year Award.

"You've got to take the rough with the smooth, eh?" he said afterwards.

But it's not all bad news for Irish musicians.

Northern outfit Two Door Cinema Club have made it into the Best British Band category and will go up against Foals, Palma Violets and Biffy Clyro.

Contenders for Villain of the Year include Robin Thicke and twerker Miley Cyrus.

Arctic Monkeys lead the field with an impressive eight nominations.
