Joan Jett joins Green Day for big Marlay Park gig

LEGENDARY singer Joan Jett and her band The Blackhearts have been confirmed to join Green Day at Marlay Park next month.

The I Love Rock And Roll singer will be a support act alongside Paramore at the gig on June 23.

Green day most recently played in Ireland last October when they played two sell-out shows, the first at Dublin's O2 and the second in the Odyssey Arena in Belfast. The tour wowed audiences with the rockers' combination of frenzied punk energy, theatrical flourishes and euphoric crowd participation.

Fans can look forward to hits new and old, with the show featuring a huge array of Green Day's hits including Basket Case, Longview, Good Riddance, Minority, American Idiot, Wake Me Up When September Ends, Know Your Enemy and 21 Guns. Paramore meanwhile rocked Dublin when they performed at the O2 last December.

Their current album Brand New Eyes, the follow up to 2007's Riot, went straight to the top of the Irish album charts when released in September 2009.

A limited supply of tickets, priced at €61.80 each are still on sale now. Sales through Ticketmaster are limited to six per transaction.
