Glen Hansard has just announced the details of his second solo album and now it's been revealed that he will perform a one-night-only spectacular show at this year's Tiger Dublin Fringe Festival in September.

Tony-nominated cabaret and drag artist Justin Vivian Bond will join the the Frames front-man to perform the one-off show in the festival's Spiegeltent in Wolfe Tone Square off Jervis Street.

The show will be directed by Thomas Bartlett, who has produced Hansard's new album, Didn't He Ramble, which to be released on September 18.

Kris Nelson, CEO and Artistic Director of Tiger Dublin Fringe, says the city will "be brought alive" when the festival takes over the capital from September 7 to 20.

"I think this year we have a programme that will inspire festival goers to try something new," Kris told the Herald.

"We have brought back the Spiegeltent, which we haven't had since 2009, and people can expect to find the most exciting circus, cabaret, music, comedy and more.

"The event that's really anchoring the Spiegeltent is an incredible circus company from Australia.

"Their show is called Scotch and Soda and there are moments where they are doing acrobatics almost on your lap," he added.

The festival is celebrating its 21st birthday this year and other notable events include the Beckett in the City project and comedian Kim Noble's Fringe debut.

Early release tickets are now on sale at www.fringefest.com and the full programme will be available from July 29.
