POPSTAR Brian McFadden has leapt to the defence of Dannii Minogue after Sharon Osbourne dubbed the reality judge as "unbearable" in her new autobiography.

The Dubliner sat alongside the petite singer for years on the panel of Australia's Got Talent before the show was axed last year.

The pair forged a close friendship and she flew to Italy to attend his wedding to Vogue Williams last year.

In her new tell-all book, Unbreakable, Sharon (60) explains that she struggled to work with the 41-year-old singer on The X Factor because of the relationship Dannii had with show mogul Simon Cowell.

But the former Westlife singer, who is doing a stint of TV presenting on ITV's Daybreak this week, said he was surprised at the revelations about the behind-the-scenes bad feeling between the two women.

"There is a lot of coverage about my old mate Dannii. It would be fair to say they didn't get on. They didn't really see eye-to-eye," Brian said.

"I love Dannii. She is a friend of mine, so I don't know."
