ACTRESS Aoibhinn McGinnity has
revealed she'd like to follow in the footsteps of friend Charlene McKenna and take on the US.

The 28-year-old Love/Hate beauty told the Diary that she'd love to take a trip to the Big Apple in the coming months to visit fellow Monaghan native Charlene - and would even consider working there.

Former RAW star Charlene is set to relocate to New York ahead of her Broadway theatre debut next March.

"I really like the sound of New York, I just need to get the finger out and get sorted," Aoibhinn said. "I've never been, so it is on the agenda for me."

Aoibhinn has been flat-out promoting her new movie Poison Pen and said as soon as she has more time on her hands, she'll begin planning.

"I've been saying all summer that I'd like to go over to New York, but Poison Pen has been taking up quite a bit of time," she said.

"Charlene is here at the moment anyway with filming for Ripper Street, but it is a loose plan."

The IFTA nominee will line out with her co-stars at the end of the month for a special screening of Poison Pen in Dublin.

The flick, which enjoyed its world premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh in July, is about author PC Molloy, who is forced to write for gossip magazine Poison Pen but finds it hard to keep his own secrets out of the press.

"We've the Dublin screening on August 31 in the Irish Film Institute and we're hoping for more," Aoibhinn said. "It's all about trying to get it out there as much as possible really.

"We had a bit to do in London and we've been really just trying to push that."

Even though she may be heading Stateside, TV viewers will see Aoibhinn back on the small screen in late October with the return of RTE hit Love/Hate.

Aoibhinn, who plays Trish in the gangland drama, thinks fans will be impressed.

"I'm the most excited I've been throughout to see this season, I think it's very dramatic and strong this year," she said.

"Trish gets out and about more too - she's isolated and has been lacking in female friendships.

"She has to lead a very secretive life, so it's nice that she gets out."

And she hinted that there may be more scenes in which she sports sultry outfits in the bedroom.

"You have to keep in mind you could be in lingerie, so you just try to always be ready - and fake tan is very handy."
