Love/Hate actor Killian Scott is to play a bad- boy racer in new psychological thriller Black Ice.

Scott (27) – best known for his role as Tommy on the award-winning Love/Hate, will star in the movie as Johnny Devlin, an adrenaline junkie with a need for speed.

"The film is set in Leitrim and Sligo," the Sandymount actor explained.

"It's about this illegal sub-culture of street racing. I'm a boy racer, a boy who loves racing around. He's a slightly darker character and kind of a loner figure."

And while Killian is happy to say goodbye to Tommy's dodgy hair cut, he will have to sport deep facial scars for his new role

"He's been through a lot. I think people will be wary of him from the beginning.

"He has a relationship with the central character Alice and it starts gathering pace and hurtles towards a very gritty conclusion," Killian says. "It transpires that my character is involved in various criminal dealings. And all is not well in paradise."

Killian says he is drawn to sinister and troubled characters. "I have done a variety of things but most of the characters I've played have a certain darkness to them.

"I think that side of human nature is very interesting and it's always a challenge to play."

This week, RTE finally confirmed a fourth season of Love/Hate would be returning.

It came as no great surprise given writer and creator Stuart Carolan admitted he had started writing the script and the actors said weeks ago they were gearing up for the shoot.

Delighted

Laurence Kinlan, who plays Elmo told his Twitter followers on Thursday night that he was busy reading the new scripts.

"Script number 3 tonight. Looking forward to starting back in a few weeks."

The series scooped six awards at the IFTAs and Killian says he's delighted his co-stars have received the recognition you deserve.

"I haven't been to the ceremony before, just the after parties. They're always a good vibe. It's great for Peter, Rob, Tom and Charlie."

Black Ice will premiere on February 20 as part of this year's Jameson Film Festival.
