Kids' rugby book tries - and succeeds

'RUGBY SPIRIT', by Gerard Siggins, is the first children's novel based around rugby in Ireland.

It's the exciting story of Eoin Madden, a boy from Tipperary who comes to boarding school in Dublin where he is introduced to this new sport. His GAA skills come in handy, but while there's rugby in his blood no-one will talk to him about it.

And then he starts getting some help from a slightly strange rugby player he meets at the Aviva Stadium ... Siggins is the co-author of 'Lansdowne Road, the Stadium, the Matches, the Greatest Days' (O'Brien Press 2010). He is a former sports editor and assistant editor of the Sunday Tribune. 'Rugby Spirit' is his first book for children.
