FROM acting alongside Gabriel Byrne to landing a full-time soap role, Jane McGrath "can't wait" to kick off with TV3's Red Rock.
The 26-year-old came to prominence opposite Love/Hate's Killian Scott in Irish movie Black Ice (inset) and also starred in RTE's dark drama Amber.
Earlier this year she appeared with silver screen veteran Gabriel in Quirke, a three-part TV adaptation of Booker prize winning author John Banville's detective novels, and was watched by Game of Thrones fans in the HBO phenomenon's recent fourth season.
Jane, who studied at the Gaiety School of Acting, will now play a garda in forthcoming weekly soap opera Red Rock, being produced by TV3. She told the Herald she's thrilled to land a regular gig.
"To be honest, actors cannot be choosy about whether they want to do TV or film," she said.
"You've to take each day as it comes and be in the now, so I could've been doing a play or not working at all.
"I'm very lucky to be playing this role of Sharon and I always wanted to play a guard."
Red Rock will air over 80 episodes in 2015.
The production is the first foray into soap by TV3 and will start broadcasting from January, just as rival station UTV Ireland launches here.
Foxrock native Jane admitted to being nervous but excited.
"It's fun being thrown into this though and nerves are good in my view, it shows you're passionate."
