hhh THE countdown has begun for the Kilkenny Arts Festival. Taking place from August 8 to 17, the annual festival includes a string of must-see events.

hhh CALLING all Leonard Cohen enthusiasts. Ireland's first festival dedicated to the Canadian singer lands at Dublin's Liberty Hall this week. Taking place from August 7 to 10, the line-up features music, film and literature relating to the star.

An afternoon of Cohen through the spoken word showcases the noted Irish writer, memoirist and broadcaster, John MacKenna. A friend of the singer for years, John interviewed Cohen at length for a series of radio programmes for RTÉ. Dermot Bolger and Gerard Smyth will also take part.
