Stars: Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson.
Plot: Superheroes save the Earth.
Hype: All the fans from the different franchises will come together.
Caution: Some of the movies being incorporated weren't great.
>DARK SHADOWS Released: May 11
Stars: Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Green, Helena Bonham Carter.
Plot: Barnabas Collins (Depp) is turned into a vampire.
Hype: Tim Burton and Johnny Depp reunite for big screen TV soap opera.
Caution: Burton can go too dark and put people off.
>MEN IN BLACK 3 Released: May 25
Stars: Will Smith, Josh Brolin, Tommy Lee Jones.
Plot: Agent J travels back to the '60s to stop an alien from assassinating his friend Agent K.
Hype: Smith is back in his black suit and shades and the time-travelling aspect is an interesting hook.
Caution: It has been 10 years since MIB2, which wasn't any good.
>SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN Released: June 1
Stars: Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron.
Plot: The Huntsman ordered to kill Snow White becomes her protector.
Hype: Kristen Stewart proves whether she can hold a movie when she's not flanked by a werewolf and vampire.
Caution: It's the second Snow White film of the year.
>PROMETHEUS Released: June 1
Stars: Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron.
Plot: Explorers go on a journey to dark corners of the universe.
Hype: Ridley Scott returning to sci-fi.
Caution: Can Scott do dark and nasty in 3D?
>THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Released: July 4
Stars: Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans.
Plot: Peter Parker discovers a clue about why his parents disappeared.
Hype: This is being sold as a reboot rather than a remake.
Caution: The villain is The Lizard.
>ICE AGE 4: CONTINENTAL DRIFT
Released: July 6
Stars: Ray Romano, Denis Leary, John Leguizamo.
Plot: Intrepid explorers set adrift.
Hype: It's one of the few animations in the summer schedule.
Caution: The films are always predictable, but the kids will love it.
>THE DARK KNIGHT RISES
Released: July 20
Stars: Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway.
Plot: New villain Bane threatens to overwhelm Gotham.
Hype: Final film in trilogy.
Caution: I can't work out what Bane is saying in the trailer.
>THE BOURNE LEGACY
Released: August 17
Stars: Jeremy Renner, Edward Norton, Rachel Weisz, Joan Allen.
Plot: CIA operative Aaron Cross tackles a myriad of adventures.
Hype: It is hoped success of the earlier films is replicated.
Caution: Can it work without Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass?
>BRAVE
Released: August 17
Stars: Kelly Macdonald, Emma Thompson.
Plot: Princess Merida defies a law that brings chaos to her kingdom.
Hype: It's a Pixar, pure and simple. Caution: Cars 2 proved Pixar can slip.
