Sheehan: from hitman to Tourette's sufferer

HE was troubled gangland assassin Darren in Love/Hate, but Robert Sheehan faces a bigger challenge as he plays a man with Tourette's Syndrome.

The Irish actor will star alongside Slumdog Millionaire's Dev Patel in new indie movie The Road Within.

The film is adapted from the award-winning German film Vincent Will Meer and begins filming on July 1 in LA.

Robert (25) will have just wrapped on The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, a fantasy movie.

In The Road Within, Robert plays Vincent, a young man who goes for treatment after his mother dies and his father decides to run for office. While in the clinic, he falls for an anorexic woman, Marie – played by Zoe Kravitz.

Marie and Vincent steal a doctor's car and kidnap Vincent's roommate Alex (played by Dev Patel), who has obsessive compulsive disorder.

The trio set off on a road trip together to take Vincent's mother's ashes to the ocean.

Recently, IFTA award-winner Robert revealed that he is on the lookout for love and he is an "immensely single man".

However, his flirtatious efforts at the recent Empire Awards were thwarted by chat show host Jonathan Ross.

"I was chatting to this burlesque dancer," he said. "She was working at the gig and, of course, I was flirting away like a madman.

"Then Jonathan Ross came over and tried to sabotage me, saying, 'Don't talk to him, he's nothing but a bouffant-haired Irish weirdo'."

The star said that his first major Hollywood gig – Mortal Instruments – may return for two sequels.
