PETER JACKSON is reportedly in talks to direct the two Hobbit films.
The Lord Of The Rings director, who is producer of the highly anticipated screen adaptation of The Hobbit, is in negotiations to helm the project after director Guillermo del Toro quit last month.
A source close to the project told Variety Jackson has been in talks to direct the films ever since del Toro's departure, although no official confirmation was available from co-financiers MGM and New Line, nor from Jackson's representative.
But on the same day del Toro announced he was stepping down from the role, Jackson told New Zealand newspaper the Dominion Post he hadn't completely ruled out directing The Hobbit.
