ACTRESS Charlene McKenna is certainly in demand and is so busy she'll miss out on the Oscars and BAFTAs.
Charlene stars in Boogaloo and Graham, which has been nominated in the short film category at both the BAFTAs and the Oscars. But she won't be attending the ceremonies as she'll be busy filming in Africa.
Charlene plays the mother in the short film which is set during the Troubles and tells the tale of two young boys given two chicks to mind by their soft-hearted father.
"I'm missing everything because I'll be in Africa, but it's so good that it's nominated," she told the Herald at the premiere of Jesus Christ Superstar in the Bord Gais Energy Theatre.
"We filmed it around this time last year and I did say to the director that I had a good feeling about it."
While she's missing the awards shows, Charlene is busy filming HBO drama AD, which picks up where the smash hit The Bible left off, continuing on from the crucifixion.
AD will premiere over Easter this April and stars Vincent Regan from The Musketeers and Adam Levy from Borgia in the leading parts.
Dubliner Emmett Scanlan also stars in the biblical drama playing the part of Saul.
"AD is going really good, I'm heading back for more filming today," she said. "It's very different over there - it's a culture shock - but the show is amazing. It's a big budget machine.
"It's their winter at the moment so the weather is a bit of a mix. When I was there before Christmas it was really hot during the day and then freezing during the night, so it's an interesting one to pack for."
Also attending the Jesus Christ Superstar premiere were Gay Byrne and his wife Kathleen, Marty Whelan and his daughter Jessica, Aoibheann McCaul, Aoibhin Garrihy and Jenny Buckley.
