FIFTY Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan is one cool customer.
The former Calvin Klein model, from Holywood, Co Down, will star as fetish-obsessed billionaire Christian Grey in the seriously saucy film adaptation of the bestselling book.
But he said that shooting all those raunchy S&M scenes will not bother him in the slightest.
"I grew up in a very liberal place," he said.
"I'm not shocked by the sex in the book.
"It's essential to tell the story. I can't believe films that don't invoke the sexual side of it. So it works for me."
Dornan was cast in the lead role after Charlie Hunnam pulled out of the production.
Hunnam cited family issues for his sudden departure.
"I have had some family stuff going on so I'm just trying to stay focused and be with my family," he said.
Fans of the racy novel were sent into a tizzy when they heard the news and began to speculate who would replace the English heart-throb.
Dornan admits he was waiting by the phone to get the call.
"I was sort of pretending I wasn't waiting, but the phone was in my hand, halfway to my ear," he said. "There was a slight fear. But beyond anything else, I was really f**king excited."
While Dornan may feel totally at ease filming the sex scenes, his co-star Dakota Johnson, who plays college graduate Anastasia Steele, is a little more conservative.
"Obviously, I want to look good naked," she told Entertainment Weekly. I totally understand now why people exercise."
Fans of EL James's book will have to wait some time before the story hits cinema screens.
The film was originally intended to be released in August 2014, but producers have delayed it to Valentine's Day 2015.
Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley said the change of release date had nothing to do with Hunnam's departure.
She insisted the producers simply wanted to make sure mothers and mature readers were in the country when the picture hit cinemas.
"We see this movie as a global event," she said. "The strength of this book is worldwide, so we want to be able to take advantage of women who are invariably on vacation during August in Europe."
