ANTONIA joins forces with pal ALEXANDRA on hollywood SCRIPT

AWARD-winning actress Antonia Campbell Hughes has teamed up with the daughter of former U2 manager Paul McGuinness to write a Hollywood movie script.

The 31-year-old, whose latest movie Kelly + Victor took home the award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer at this year's BAFTAs, revealed she and director Alexandra McGuinness are working together again.

The friends, who made feature film Lotus Eaters in 2011, spent time last month writing in Los Angeles. The film was McGuinness's directorial debut.

"I'm passionate about collaborating and am developing a lot of my own stuff at the moment, so I'm working on this film with Alexandra and I think it's going to be an Irish co-production," Campbell Hughes said.

The Derry-born starlet is also preparing to return to her comedy roots and is in talks to write for television.

"I'm developing a comedy series at the moment and it's an area I've done a lot in before, so I'm looking forward to going back to that genre.

"It's exciting for me, I took a long sabbatical from comedy; I used to see drama and comedy as polar opposites, but it's so advanced now. There is a lot of black comedy being made, with more narrative to it."

It's going to be a busy year for the blonde, who is also planning to reunite with Kelly + Victor director Kieran Evans in the coming months and is set to see a number of projects hit cinemas.

"Fortunately I have a lot of films due to be released, like The Canal and Hinterland, which I shot with Eva Birthistle," the star revealed.
