RTE are planning to bring back the Today show for an extended run next season.
A real sign of confidence in their weekday afternoon slot, bosses at the national broadcaster are hoping to see presenters Daithi O Se and Maura Derrane return to the studio with the programme for an additional two months on top of their usual stint.
Kerryman Daithi (37) told the Herald that he's thrilled with the move.
"We've a longer run this year, I think an extra two months, which is great," the dad-of-one said.
"It's a big thumbs up from RTE and the success of the show from last year.
"We took a more laid back approach last season and it seems that definitely paid off for us.
"Maura and I are always the last two to hear about plans," he said.
Both anchors have become parents in recent months and Daithi, who was a special guest at the Galway Races yesterday, said that gaelgoir pal Maura is "in great form".
Brunette Maura revealed last month that she had to have an emergency C-section six weeks before her due date, after losing several litres of blood due to a massive haemorrhage.
"Maura's tough and never complains," former TG4 host Daithi said.
"I was chatting to her this week and she's really looking forward to getting stuck in to work again.
"The baby Cal is doing fantastically well - he looks really like her," he added.
