Dad's just great for TV tips, says Pat's girl Cara

SHE'S keen to follow her dad Pat into TV, and now Cara Spillane is getting some hot top tips from the footballing legend.

The 23-year-old model daughter of the retired Kerry star is eager to broaden her horizons by becoming a presenter, and is already tipped to land her own show on TG4.

Blonde beauty Cara, who is on the books of Assets model agency, told the Herald that after growing up with a GAA hero who's a regular RTE pundit, she has become familiar with the industry.

"I've grown up watching dad on a studio set and he's great for keeping an eye out for me with potential gigs or jobs," she said.

"I'd never ask for his help in actually securing a job, but he's great for advice and he's always telling me to show my personality, let that shine through."

Cara recently auditioned to host a new dating show and is pitching ideas for projects.

"I've done some screen testing with TG4 and they're hoping to develop some ideas with me, which is amazing," she said.

Although she's hoping to take on a career in broadcasting, Cara insisted she won't be following Sky anchor Rachel Wyse down the sports route.

"I think I'll leave that to my dad, to be honest, he's the one with the real knowledge," she said.

"I'd know a little about GAA from watching it, but not enough to give any real opinion on it."

Cara said she won't be rushing to tune in to Sky's GAA coverage any time soon either.

"We watch RTE in our house, we always have, and I'm faithful to that," said Cara, who's currently living in Cork.

"I'd better keep dad happy!"
