THIS girl is on a mission to prove that beauty is more than skin deep.
Offaly girl Laura McCormack (19) made history this morning after winning a competition to be crowned our first Miss Personality.
Laura will now take part in the Miss Ireland competition this summer.
She is the first girl to ever enter the pageant who has been chosen without any assessment of her looks.
And Laura will be hoping that her personality, wit and intelligence will shine through as she lines out alongside a string of bikini-clad beauties at the 67th annual Miss Ireland competition in July.
Some of the country’s most successful models, including ex Miss World Rosanna Davison, model boss Andrea Roche and catwalk queen Sarah Morrissey are all past winners of the competition and Laura is looking forward to the pageant.
A national search for the inaugural 2fm Miss Personality finalist to take part in Miss Ireland, was launched earlier this month by Ryan Tubridy and the current Miss Ireland, Aoife Walsh.
The competition was the brainchild of 2fm’s Tubridy, along with Miss Ireland competition organisers Brendan Scully and Sean Montague and is designed to illustrate how beauty is “so much more than skin deep”.
Laura was chosen as the people’s champion after a series of interviews with Tubridy and it was another first for her as the Miss Personality winner had to rely solely on votes from the public in order to secure a place in the national final.
No real names were used during the search and there was no opportunity to determine what the entrants looked like before the finalist was chosen.
