White gowns trend a hit with stylist Celia

Top stylist Celia Holman-Lee pinpointed elegant white gowns worn by Grainne Seoige, Pippa O'Connor and Ruth O'Neill as the hottest look at the VIP Style Awards.

"I admired the white Grecian trend tremendously. Grainne, Pippa and Anna Daly did different variations of the same theme and it just really worked," she told the Diary.

Glenda Gilson was also praised for her knock-out €675 red gown from Lara. A simple dress in itself, the colour alone won her the best dressed on the night.

"I just loved her entire look. It was a very grown-up Glenda," said Celia.

"She is known for being quite funky with her style but this time she went for a really sleek look and the dress showed off her body, which she must work so hard for, to perfection.

"She looked really beautiful and deserved to get best dressed because she went for something different."

But Celia admitted there were some other frocks which failed to impress, including Katie Price's thigh-high mini dress.

"I don't know where Jordan was coming from. She was probably out to make a statement.

"There were a few short dresses and this is one of our big style events of the year. This is a big gala and I just don't think short dresses are appropriate."
