THE cost of a wedding and honeymoon is always a big headache for the happy couple.
Not so Alan Hughes who got a lot of the fare and dream American holiday sponsored by big companies.
The panto star married long-term partner Karl Broderick in a lavish do for 250 of his close friends and family last Friday.
It will be interesting to see now whether Alan will be able to mention the sponsors on TV3.
The Celebrity Salon winner enlisted the services of Gotcha Covered to design the wedding -- and offered viewers a sneak preview of the reception theme on TV3's Xpose -- with an on-air plug for the planners.
Following their 2.30pm ceremony in the Unitarian Church, guests were treated to a champagne reception -- again sponsored by Marks & Spencer.
Every wedding calls for the traditional cake and lucky guests at Alan and Karl's nuptials enjoyed a slice of one of three cakes brought in for the big day.
A centrepiece cake was given by baking expert Catherine Leyden.
The festivities continued over the weekend with a party at the Morgan Hotel. Yes you guessed it -- owned by pal Lisa Fitzpatrick's husband.
The newlyweds now jet off on their honeymoon -- with the help of a big US bound operator -- to California tomorrow.
But to top it off - there's a magazine deal for good measure with VIP paying the couple for pictures in its next issue.
I'm assured the companies didn't have any advertising hoarding at the reception!
