Top secret wedding as Kielty and Cat fly guests to Rome for ceremony

IRISH comedian Patrick Kielty has married his long-term friend and co-star Cat Deeley in an intimate ceremony in Rome.

The couple tied the knot in St Isidore's College Church after just nine months of dating.

Patrick (41) and Cat (35) fell in love following years of friendship. They met on Fame Academy in 2002.

The couple kept their blossoming relationship out of the public eye but rumours of their romance began to surface after they went on holiday together in February.

The So You Think You Can Dance host looked radiant in a ruffled white dress with plunging neckline and her hair was pinned back off her face with a garland of white flowers. Patrick was low key in a black suit and white shirt and appeared to wear no tie.

The ceremony was top secret and just 60 friends and family were invited to attend.

Guests were offered flights to Rome on Friday and Saturday, paid for by the couple.

Patrick's close frien d and parish priest Father Gary Donegan jetted from Belfast to officiate. Cat's BBC Radio 1 DJ friend Edith Bowman (38) was a bridesmaid at Saturday's low-key affair. The millionaire pair became engaged recently after Patrick moved into Cat's €2m Beverly Hills home.

Cat first fuelled rumours of an engagement with her beau when she showed up to a pre-Emmys party sporting a large sparkler on her wedding finger.

And Patrick said last year that he had a plan to make 2012 particularly memorable, saying: "I think that might be my New Year's resolution ... to get married." But they were forced to deny publicly that they had plans, and instead made arrangements in secret, with family and friends finding out at the last minute.

Pals from the showbiz world including Sky News anchorman Eamonn Holmes wished the couple good luck.

"Congratulations to Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley who got married in Rome yesterday... aahhh. Every happiness to them," Eamonn said online.

The undercover nuptials were not the only happy occasion over the weekend. Hollywood star Anne Hathaway married her jewellery designer partner Adam Shulman (31) at Big Sur, California. The Batman actress (29) wore a bespoke Valentino gown and a 1920s-inspired headband attached to a veil.

Meanwhile Kings of Leon bassist Jared Followill and his new wife, model Martha Patterson, kept their big day "rustic" and "low key" in Tennessee.

And former Neighbours star Holly Valance tied the knot with her billionaire beau Nick Candy in a lavish ceremony with 300 guests in Beverly Hills.

The bride (29) wore an extravagant white gown by J'Aton Couture and the wealthy property developer wore a tuxedo by Dolce and Gabanna.
