Tom begs Louis for guest place on X Factor and plans trip here

HOLLYWOOD legend Tom Cruise has been begging Louis Walsh if he can take part in this year's X Factor.

The Herald can reveal how the pint-sized scientologist (47), confessed to the Mayo mogul how he is a huge fan of the hit programme.

The Jerry Maguire star even asked if he could have a guest slot on the new version of the hit ITV show -- and wants to come to Ireland to track down his Irish relatives.

"I met him at the Oscar Wilder party. He actually came up to me and started talking to me about the X Factor," Louis said.

"He knows Simon Cowell and has watched the show on the internet. He was quite intense and wanted to know all about how it works and what went on behind the scenes."

The multi-millionaire star, who filmed Far And Away here, also expressed an interest in coming back to Ireland and tracking down his Irish relatives.

"He was cool, and didn't talk about scientology or anything like that. He seems to think that he has relations in the west of Ireland so when I told him I was from Mayo he wanted to know all about it," he continued.

"But I don't know of any Cruise family in Mayo or around that area. It is definitely not a common name but he can always stay with me if he wants to come over and find his roots!" Louis added.

Katie Holmes's other half also tried to get the low down from Louis about the plans for the American version of the X Factor.

Simon Cowell has confirmed that he will be bringing the hit formula to the US and has mooted the Kiltimagh manager as a possible judge.

"Tom kept asking me if I would do the show in the States and if he could go to the show in the UK if he was in town. I told him that wouldn't be a problem.

"We don't have tickets or anything yet but I can't imagine it would be a problem getting Tom Cruise a ticket," he added.

The Westlife manager has been rubbing shoulders with the stars after flying over to the States for a whirlwind trip of showbiz parties.
