This time I'll make charity trek, promises TV star Louise

SHE pulled out last year, but reality TV star Louise Johnston has promised she won't back out of the upcoming Catwalk to Himalayas trek.

The 24-year-old has confirmed she'll be joining model pals Roz Purcell, Leah O'Reilly, Emily McKeogh and Holly Carpenter for the filmed hike in September.

The former Fade Street star said she had little choice but to pull out of their adventure to Kilimanjaro last year after she hurt her back in a car crash.

"I'm delighted I get to do it this time around. I wasn't sure if it was going to be an option because the girls were saying they didn't want anyone else doing it with them, but I've officially joined the team," Louise said.

Clonskeagh native Louise has insisted that she was gutted not to go to Kilimanjaro, but felt she had to obey her doctors.

"It was heartbreaking for me but my doctor strongly advised me not to do it. He said he was worried about how my back would handle the flight, as well as carrying a backpack for 10 days.

"I'm actually still not 100pc, but I've been doing loads of exercises to build up strength and I feel I'll be ready," she added.

Newly brunette Louise, who works as a brand manager for drinks company Bacardi and is taking time off from her job, is thrilled that her doctors have given her the all clear.

"I'm quite fit and sporty anyway, but I definitely need to build up strength in my back.

"It's one of those things I've really wanted to do and the fact that Holly [Carpenter] is doing it for the first time, too, is a bonus: the more the merrier."

The models are raising funds for cancer support group Girls Club Cork.
