Third time lucky? Melanie set for new X Factor bid

X FACTOR reject Melanie McCabe is hoping to make it third time lucky on the talent show.

The Dublin singer has previously impressed Cheryl Cole and Kelly Rowland - but hasn't managed to make it to the live shows.

At the age of just 14 Melanie wowed judges on the show but judge at the time Cheryl Cole told her to take some time and come back again. Last year she became one of the early favourites but viewers were shocked when her mentor Kelly Rowland sent her packing in the judges' houses round.

Speaking to the Herald, the Whitehall native (18) said she met up with Misha B when she was in Dublin for the X Factor tour, and she encouraged her to go for it again.

"She told me to just be myself and not to be overconfident on camera. She also said I have to be really thick skinned to make it all the way," she said. "But I've been there twice now, so at this stage I really think I can handle it. This time round, I better make it to the live shows, though."

The singer says it took her months to get over being kicked off the show last year and she still isn't 100pc sure that she will enter again.

"I was really upset when I was sent home, I was devastated."

But she already has one very big fan - Louis Walsh. "I think she should definitely go for it again," the veteran X Factor judge told the Herald.
