The teacher who spotted a worldwide star in Janet

Irish X Factor star Janet Devlin is poised to become an international superstar according to her singing teacher.

The Gortin-native has won over Destiny's Child star Kelly Rowland -- but the woman who first spotted talent in the youngster will be cheering her on all the way.

Castlederg drama and music teacher Rois Kelly Lynch (29) has been coaching Janet (16) for two years and knows that her pupil can make it all the way.

"Janet has so much range when it comes to music -- her repertoire is very different," she said. "She can sing almost anything."

Rois has insisted that the X Factor hopeful will have no problems showing her versatility and standing out among the other finalists.

"She does a lot of research into what she sings -- she has at least 15 songs that she can nail -- she's willing to do whatever it takes."

Viewers have yet to see Janet move during her show-stopping performances, but her teacher told the Herald dancing was not an issue for the singer.

"She can dance, I've seen her dance -- she'll have no problems in that department."

The schoolgirl even sang at her teacher's wedding over the summer.

"I arranged my students into a folk group to sing in the church, but I wanted Janet to sing Adele's Make You Feel My Love at the end as we signed the register -- it was really amazing."

Janet is one of the top 16 acts to go through to the live shows in this year's X Factor.

The Devlins were delighted to see their daughter make the cut and told the Herald they were "thrilled to finally relax and take it all in".

Janet beat Dubliner Melanie McCabe (18) to land a place in the 'Girls' category, after smashing a rendition of Christina Aguilera's Beautiful at the judges' houses stage of the show in Miami.

The budding popstar will join Misha Bryan (19), Sophie Habibas (19) and Amelia Lily (16) as Kelly's chosen acts.

They will perform for a public vote next weekend -- where more than 20 million people will tune in for another double bill.
