The Insider: Marco Pierre White

CELEBRITY chef Marco Pierre White was celebrating this week when his Dawson Street restaurant in Dublin took the award for best newcomer at the prestigious Good Eating Guide awards.

Having opened just over a year ago, Marco and this team were delighted to have made their mark on the Dublin culinary world.

The award was accepted by joint owner Geraldine Fitzpatrick and restaurant manager Gina Bodkin.

Marco is now planning a trip to Dublin early next month to celebrate the victory with his staff.

DETAILS of this year's award-winning Carlsberg Comedy Carnival have just been announced.

This year's event, which takes place at the picturesque Iveagh Gardens from July 22 to 25, features an incredible line-up of international and home- grown talent.

A fantastic array of performance artists and musicians will keep comedy lovers entertained between shows, while comedy-goers can enjoy a delicious selection of gourmet food, chilled beer and drinks.

A special Peaches & Cream event will take place next week to showcase the limited edition of Aussie Colour Mate's shampoo, conditioner and 3 Minute Miracle, all of which boast a special wild Australian peach ingredient.

The event takes place at 15 St Stephen's Green on Wednesday from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, with guests enjoying complimentary hair and beauty pampering from Paul and Ian Davey and Lyndsey Kavanagh on the night.

MUSIC lovers came out in force on Tuesday night for the official launch of the Sony Ericsson Temple House Music Festival, which takes place in Sligo later this summer.

The official line-up, which includes The Undertones, The Walls, New Young Pony Club and Peter Hook, were announced at the event, which took place at Wexford Street's Solas bar from 6.30pm.

Terry Hall from The Specials was spinning the tunes at the invite-only event, with support from The Clampdown DJs.

The fantastic new three- day family-friendly music, culture and arts festival will take place at Temple House, in Sligo, on September 10, 11 and 12 and will feature everything from live music to poetry reading, face painting, holistic therapies, art exhibitions and a farmers' market.
