The Insider: John Rocha due to pick up another award

wwwCongrats are in order to designer John Rocha, who's due to pick up another award shortly.

The Diary has learned that the fashion guru, who was the toast of London Fashion Week after celebrating 25 years in business, will receive the Contribution to Irish Fashion Award in Galway later this month.

The Hong Kong-born designer, who rarely steps out in anything but black, will be one of the winners at the Golden Egg Irish fashion innovation awards on March 18 as he picks up his gong at the invite-only bash in the Radisson Hotel.

He'll be joined by some less established couturiers battling it out for the Designer of the Year. Among them will be Amy Huberman's favourite stylist Joanne Hynes, alongside Eilish Boyle, Heather Finn, Helen James and Jasmin Vellosa.

Other attendees will be Eddie Shanahan, TG4 presenter Blathnaid Ni Dhonnchadha and Slim Barrett, who famously designed Victoria Beckham's wedding tiara.

Brunette beauty Kristin Scott Thomas took a leaf out of her English Patient co-star Ralph Fiennes' book during her recent sojourn in Dublin.

The upper-class actress was spotted dining out in Michelin-starred restaurant Chapter One with a group of pals while here for the premiere of her new movie Partir at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival.

And given that it was also the favourite eaterie of Ralph while he was staying in the city for his acclaimed stint in the Faith Healer, the two have clearly been swapping tips on top restaurants.

Meanwhile, fellow award-winner Tilda Swinton, who was here with her other half Sandro Kopp, was seen dining out in One Pico restaurant on Molesworth Place following the screening of romantic drama flick I Am Love at the Savoy cinema, which brought the festival to a close.

Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain will no doubt be saying a 'cupla focail' at the Button Factory tomorrow evening for the launch of this year's Seachtain na Gaeilge.

The TV presenter has been appointed as this year's festival frontwoman, alongside The Coronas star Danny O'Reilly.

Running from March 5 to 17, the event is geared at getting people to use their few words of Irish.

Among those who have confirmed their attendance at the exclusive bash, hosted by Samsung and Conradh na Gaeilge this week are Luan Parle, Oscar-nominated act Kila and Danny O'Reilly.

Also on the list are Darren Kennedy, TG4's Eoghan McDermott, Grainne and Sile Seoige, Daithi O Se and Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh.

Good to see that Sara Kavanagh's new romance is continuing apace. The blonde beauty hooked up with personal trainer Alan Byrne some eight months ago and the pair are obviously still smitten, judging by their displays of affection recently.

The two popped in to help raise some cash for a good cause at the Angler's Rest in Strawberry Beds for the Look Who's Cooking charity event and were joined at the hip for most of the night as they enjoyed the four course meal and free-flowing wines on offer.
