The Insider: 14/01/2010

Desperate fame-seekers should prepare to form a disorderly queue.

The Big Brother team is coming to town next week and it has issued an appeal for all aspiring contestants.

Given that the Channel 4 programme will air for the final time this summer, it's expecting a massive number of wannabe participants.

The first round of open auditions are on Tuesday at the RDS on Anglesea Road and is urging anyone interested to pop down and give it a go.

All applicants must be aged 18 or over by May 2010.

  • THE five finalists in the Curvette of the Year 2010 competition will be assembling in the Fitzwilliam Hotel on St Stephen's Green on Wednesday.

Now in its third year, the contest centres around finding the Curves member who has lost the most weight and radically changed her life.

Putting the finalists through their paces are this year's panel of judges, which includes RTE stylist Sonya Lennon, Laura Bermingham and Gill Brady.

The winner will receive a 10-year membership to Curves, a family holiday to Turkey and a new outfit.

  • Fans of Katherine Lynch, take note. The new DVD of her RTE series Wonderwomen has hit the shelves and is apparently going down a storm with Irish comedy fans.

She's obviously on to a winner, given that her last release -- of her live performances around the country -- claimed the number-one slot in the charts for a five weeks.

"People kept coming up to me in the street, in the supermarket, in the hairdressers asking me when the first Wonderwomen TV series would be available to buy -- and so from January 8, I could finally say it's on the shelf," she said.

  • THE INSIDE, the new movie from Irish talent Emmett Scanlan and director Eoin Macken, will gets its first showing at the Screen cinema on Wednesday.

Starring Czech actress Teresa Srbova and acclaimed Irish singer Kellie Blaise, it follows five girls who break into an abandoned warehouse for some excitement, only to find themselves the victims of a supernatural attack.

  • ACTOR Jonathan Rhys Meyers has not had to suffer the spate of bad weather like the rest of us unfortunate souls.

The sexy star of The Tudors has been spotted enjoying all the best action in the stylish French ski-resort of Chamonix.

He has been making the most of the good skiing conditions during a break in his hectic filming schedule.

Obviously a firm favourite of the destination, he was spotted in the same resort in 2008.

He'll be returning to our small screens this year, when the final instalment of the historical drama airs on TV3.
