RTE personality and patron of the LauraLynn Children's Hospice, Miriam O'Callaghan, stepped out this week to launch an 'electrifying' new fundraising drive by Airtricity to support the building of Ireland's first children's hospice.

On Wednesday afternoon the glamorous mum of eight announced that for the next five weeks, Airtricity will donate €5 for every customer who switches online at Airtricity.com to LauraLynn Hospice at Children's Sunshine Home.

  • WE'VE had the 70s, 80s, 90s and Noughties and now some savvy radio listeners have come up with a new name for the upcoming decade.

Dublin's 98 DJ Declan Pierce asked listeners to officially name the decade -- resulting in hundreds of texts and votes on the station's website from fans of the show.

The winning suggestion, the Onesies, named after the popular pyjamas, will officially be announced on his show, Drive With Declan Pierce, this evening.

  • THERE'S some good news for actress Leigh Arnold, with American TV bosses showing interest in the pilot of her new chat-show, The Friday Night Lock In.

The petite brunette, who was disappointed to learn that RTE had axed hit medical drama The Clinic earlier this year, will no doubt be keeping her fingers crossed that the programme gets the green light.

  • CONGRATULATIONS to Irish fashion designer Louise Kennedy, who has just joined forces with Mercedes-Benz in a unique collaboration.

The initiative aims to showcase the elegant design and superior craftsmanship upon which each has built their reputation.

This is the first time an Irish business woman has been selected as style envoy for Mercedes-Benz in Ireland, with particular focus on the new E-Class Coupe, which has recently been introduced to the Irish market.

  • BOOKIES are holding out high hopes for Boyzone singer, Mikey Graham when he takes to the ice next Sunday night for the debut programme of a new series of Dancing On Ice.

The star, who will be joined by 14 other celebrities on the show, has been given odds of 9/1 by Boylesports to win Dancing on Ice 2010.

Graham is also even money to dance to a Boyzone song, while odds of 1/3 are on offer for fellow Boyzone members Ronan, Shane and Keith to be spotted in the audience on the first live show.
