'That's what I call a popstar!' Gary blown away as Dublin teen Melanie storms X Factor

Dublin youngster Melanie McCabe will be seen storming the stage at this weekend's X Factor.

The gorgeous blonde (18) from Whitehall has made it through to the bootcamp phase of this year's programme and is now being tipped as one to watch.

The Herald can reveal how she receives a standing ovation from the four-strong panel of judges after performing two songs for them.

Everyone was raving about Tyrone teenager Janet Devlin after she blew the judges away with her whimsical performance -- now it's Melanie's turn to take centre stage.

The stunning singer originally auditioned at the Manchester auditions last June and was hailed as one of the most memorable contestants.

Judge Louis Walsh immediately recognised her from her 2008 audition, when she was deemed to young to properly compete in the tough competition.

He tells her how he was "glad she came back to the UK" and she tells the judges how she has been practising hard and had singing lessons over the past few years.

She then blasted out One Night Only from the movie Dreamgirls, before also performing Rihanna's monster hit Only Girl In the World after Kelly Rowland tells her she wants to hear another song.

After her amazing audition, Take That star judge Gary Barlow tells her: "Melanie, now that's what I call a popstar. Absolutely flawless vocal. You look absolutely stunning.

"All the girls are going to want to look like you and all the guys are going to want to date you! You have got the whole package, congratulations Melanie."

Louis tells her how she was "born to sing" and that her vocals were incredible.

Former Destiny's Child star Kelly says: "You come on stage and you're 17 years old and you're prepared, you sound like this. You set the standard today, girl."

She's now being tipped for the top after making it through to the bootcamp stages of the hit competition, watched last week by 12 million viewers, and on to the 'judges' houses' section.

This weekend sees a double dose of X Factor, which will also feature auditions from Cardiff.

Talented Melanie is now expected to be in the same category as Janet, with the girls' group mentored by Kelly.

She previously told the Herald how her experience on the show in 2008 only made her more determined to improve her vocals.

"I was only 14 and my voice hadn't even properly developed yet. This time I was better."
