Stockbroker on model Anderton stalking charge facing verdict

The trial of a stockbroker accused of stalking Sophie Anderton is expected to conclude today.

Paul Davis (58) allegedly bombarded Ms Anderton with text messages after making initial contact with her, claiming he intended to write her biography.

But he went on to tell her he wanted to marry her on a mountain, buy her a solitaire diamond ring and take her for dinner at Claridges in a string of 88 texts sent between January and April last year, Kingston Magistrates' Court in Surrey heard when the trial started last month.

The 32-year-old model said she was "practically hysterical" when she reported the matter to police on March 27 last year.

Davis, of Old Park Avenue, Enfield, Middlesex, denies one charge of harassment on the grounds of insanity.

District Judge Andrew Sweet adjourned the hearing at the end of the day-long trial.

The verdict is due to be given at West London Magistrates' Court today.
