Stars line up to see TV Alan wed Karl

THE wedding of Alan Hughes and Karl Broderick will be the star-studded bash of the year, according to the couple's pal Sinead Desmond.

The Ireland AM presenter told the Diary the entire cast and crew in TV3 can't stop talking about this weekend's bash. Ireland's top celebs will attend the nuptials and the massive reception taking place at the Mansion House.

"This week the only one thing on everyone's mind is Alan Hughes' wedding. It's on Friday and all of us at Ireland AM cannot wait. We are all working that morning, except Alan, because we couldn't all get the day off obviously.

"But we will be ready to party all night long. It's definitely going to be the biggest bash of the year.

"The afters will be at the Mansion House and there is going to be a huge stage with ton of amazing singers performing all night including Mary Byrne, I can't wait."

Already confirmed to have received invitations are former Miss World Rosanna Davison, Glenda Gilson, and Alan's Celebrity Salon co-stars Aislyne Horgan-Wallace, Georgia Salpa and Calum Best.

Despite possibly causing an awkward moment between Georgia and Calum, Alan says he won't be uninviting any of his VIP guests. "They are both still invited to come there has been no resending of the invitations," he explained over the weekend.

Alan and his partner of 18 years will then jet off on their honeymoon to the US on the Tuesday after their wedding, giving them time to recover from the lavish party. The loved-up pair, left, will spend two weeks travelling around LA and San Francisco.

Long-time pal of the couple Sinead said: "They are getting married 18 years to the day they met. It's great that they can actually do this now..

"I remember saying to Alan, when he announced the wedding, that this was going to be a big deal. It's great for a lot of gay men and women in Ireland. They are the first major celebrity couple to get married and have a civil partnership. I don't think he even thought about it that way at the start," she said.

Sinead made the comments while launching Kellogg's Feel Bran New campaign with RTE star Dr Mark Hamilton.
