Stars don glam wellies to rock out in style

SHE'S one of Hollywood's top stars -- but Canadian actress Rachel McAdams wasn't too proud to slum it with the great unwashed when she turned up for the final day of the three-day Oxegen festival.

After making a brief appearance in the exclusive VIP area, The Notebook star hot-footed it to the muddy festival site to party alongside other music fans in front of the main stage.

The blonde was determined to stay under the radar however, doing her best to avoid the glare of the cameras as she mingled with fellow revellers in a pair of wellies.

McAdams has just signed up to star in new romantic drama The Vow, opposite Channing Tatum, and is said to be enjoying a holiday in Ireland before filming begins.

Also spotted enjoying the much welcomed burst of sunshine in the backstage area yesterday afternoon was former X Factor contestant Diana Vickers.

The bubbly blonde, who later performed at the Heineken Green Sphere's tent, told of how she was getting excited ahead of the World Cup Final in South Africa and even had a brief kickabout with friends before leaving for her gig.

Over in the artists area, meanwhile, top bands Broken Social Scene and Ocean Colour Scene were spotted watching Spain take victory over Holland on the big screen together, before taking to the stage for their individual performances later that evening.

Bell X1 frontman Paul Noonan revealed how he was also hoping to catch the end of the game, following his band's 10-song stint on the Mainstage ahead of Faithless and The Prodigy.

Noonan admitted that he and fellow artists enjoyed the star treatment backstage, making the most of a games area complete with a selection of Playstations and XBoxes.

Visiting artists could also avail of a massage from a professional masseuse who was on hand to relieve their stresses and strains.

Fresh from her successful Miss Universe Ireland pageant, model and businesswoman Andrea Roche, clad in glamorous red wellies, turned up with her boyfriend Rob White in tow.

"I'm having a great time and Miss Universe Ireland went really well on Friday night so it's nice to be able to kick back now and relax," she said.

Nadia Forde was there with partner Mark Noble of FM104 and said she was a "huge fan" of Eminem who was one of the acts on her schedule.

"I'm also going to catch a bit of Faithless later -- it's the northsider in me!" she quipped.

Others among those spotted hanging out in the VIP area yesterday afternoon were Xpose star Sean Munsanje, Scottish singer Paolo Nutini, Danny O'Reilly from the Coronas and MTV's Laura Whitmore.

Other well known names and faces enjoying the festival over the weekend included Xpose's Karen Koster and her colleague Lisa Cannon, model Nadia Forde, RTE's Aidan Power, Westlife's Mark Feehily, several of the Newcastle United football team and former boxing world champ Bernard Dunne.

An estimated 75,000 fans were in attendance over the course of the event.
